Disconnect and protect – with Tank-Away!®
From RV, to boat, to storage and back again – Tank-Away® ensures a perfect reconnect, every time!
Are you tired of tripping over your disconnected propane coupling? Do you worry about reconnecting after the off-season with dirty, corroded or insect-nested couplings? The new Tank-Away Hose Tidy System is designed to make your portable propane experience better and safer. Tank-Away is ideal for boaters, campers and outdoor chefs – for gas grills, patio heaters, generators and other portable equipment using 20-40 pound tanks with Type 1 couplings. The Tank-Away® system was developed by Bill Cooke and Karen Swift, propane industry innovators with more than 35 years of combined propane experience.
Corroded or dirty couplings can cause propane gas leaks – better to be safe!
The propane industry recommends that when your propane grill is not in use for extended periods of time, as in the “winter” season, disconnected hose-end fittings should be covered to keep them clean and protected from corrosion. The ingeniously simple Tank-Away system holds your Type 1 coupling in a clean, airtight seal, and reduces wear on your hose and regulator.
No more fumbling around. When it’s time to reconnect, just pop the cap on the tank, unscrew the Tank-Away plug from the Type 1 coupling and make a clean, safe, reliable connection – every time!
How does Tank-Away work?
Propane tank connected: Tank-Away TA-4 Safe-Disconnect Kit installed.
Propane tank disconnected: TA-4 Safe-Disconnect Kit in use. Notice how the cylinder cap and sealing plug provide protection for both sides of your connection!
When the tank’s away, the TA-4’s sealing plug keeps insects and dirt out of the Type 1 coupling, while the handy hose clip keeps the hose and regulator from swinging. The tiny vent hole in the regulator should be protected from rain or other moisture intrusion at all times.
